The Raossance – Don’t Look, Don’t Touch May 17, 2014
Today we look back at an art show that we hosted in our broadway gallery last year with RAOS. The title of the show was The RAOSSANCE / Don’t Look, Don’t Touch. This was a great solo show for this artist, which combined original canvas paintings, ink and mixed media illustrations, wooden sculpture and a cardboard coffin installation. The colors were bright, the imagery unique and the execution was on point. We need more RAOS in our gallery.

Rise of the Endangered by Jonathan Martinez April 5, 2014
April 5th, 2014. This art walk marked GCS Clothing Store’s 5th year in the city of Santa Ana. It was hard to believe that it was april of 2009 when GCS opened it’s doors in DTSA. To help us celebrate the date, we had the pleasure of hosting a solo art show by Jonathan Martinez entitled “Rise of the Endangered”. Original acrylic on canvas and ink on paper pieces filled the gallery. Two lucky recipients won the raffle and walked away with an original J. Martinez. And as Always, GCS is honored and happy to have had 5 years of bringing quality art, artists and events to the people of central orange county.

April 16th, 2014. A very rare wednesday art show in our gallery brought us Liz Covarrubias a.k.a. Liz Killz’s “The Missing Cards” photographic art show. The theme of the show was to update the traditional ‘loteria’ game pieces with symbols and icons that are a little more relatable to today’s audiences. Look out for more from this OC based photographer.

When you put Psycho Realm, DTSA and the cinco de mayo weekend together, the show was bound to sell out and the venue was sure to get packed. The other headliners backing up Sick Jacken, Cynic, and Dj FM were Tijuana No!, Sean Price and DJ Muggs. Evidence and Murs also jumped on stage to treat the crowd to something a little special. Big ups Blacklisted Music Group for another great show.

“Return to Tell the Tale”… a solo art show by 3rdi NOV 1, 2014
Today we look at the night GCS clothing store came back from the dead and returned to Downtown Santa Ana. NOV 1st, 2014, in conjunction with the first saturday art walk, GCS opened it’s new doors to the world and hosted the show “Return to Tell the Tale”, a solo art show by Ivan “3rdi” Vega. How fitting it was to have this great artist commemorate our re-grand opening, we have had the honor of showing this guy for a few years now and we had to have him return to GCS and bless the new space and get us going on the right foot.
If you have not looked into this artist by now, well what are you waiting for. Check his site out here and look for more works from 3rdi at GCS in the near future.

One of the benefits of the new location is that we get to curate the art on the electrical box outside our doors. Our plan is to use them as a canvas to showcase the artists that are contained within. 3rdi was the first to renovate the front side of the box but our great friend Jonathan Martinez took over the side facing our front door. Here is a series of shots that show the work in progress.
GCS All Stars art show, DEC ’14
Dec. 6th, 2014. GCS clothing store and art gallery presents a little show we like to call GCS All Stars. NO theme, just a show made up of artists that are familiar to our gallery walls. Artists included in this show were Free Humanity, Nick Macaulay, DES, Jess Johnson, Jordan Yescas, Edgar Zamorano, Marcos Camacho a.k.a Nerd Bird, Andre Sandoval, Steady Jenny, GERMIZM, Dino Perez and the works of Ivan Vega a.k.a 3rdi that were still available from the NOV art show. We’re still getting used to our new space and the crowds are steadily finding us in our new place.
