July 7th, 2012. From a time before we had a good camera to record all the history. We look back at the art show for the July 2012 art walk. Looks like we had Hippieone, Q-Vo and some of the GOPA gallery crew in the gallery that month. As well as a great grouping of Jamie Johnson’s art work.
Nov 3rd, 2012. The November art walk was always one of the biggest art walks of the year. Coinciding with the “Noche De Altares” event on 4th st., it was a perfect choice to launch our day of the dead themed art show. GCS always enjoyed the challenge of curating a themed group art show. And this one was one of our favorites. We took a break from the theme this last november but look out for “Bringing Out The Dead” art show to return in ’15.
Dec. 1st, 2012. GCS was happy to land this high quality art show with Neko Burke entitled “Sext Hangover” This guy is an amazing artist. The very impressive pieces that he brought out for the show combined mixed media paintings, carpentry and wood working. More installations than art pieces, this was the type of art show that raises the bar for future art shows. This guy is prolific, so keep an eye out for this guy.
Jan 5th, 2013. GCS was happy to host the second annual $50 and Under Open Art Show. Building on the popularity of the previous year’s 50 and under art show, the second year had more art, more artists and more spectators. Anyone that has followed us through the years knows that January means $50 and Under art show! Look out for more.
Today we look back at the second time the Ink Bombers curated an art show in our Broadway gallery. Entitled “Comic Cons”, the art show focused on the darker side of the characters that we all grew up with. Great art show, great line up of talent. The Ink Bombers always go hard.
Feb 2nd, 2013. GCS was proud and honored to host this very special artist, designer and all around man of many talents Kray Sudderth. His prints are amazing and the mixed media installations were very impressive. Make sure you follow this guy, he is always producing new and exciting items. And did we mention he is a master printer and custom skate deck king.
Today we look back at an art show that we hosted in our broadway gallery last year with RAOS. The title of the show was The RAOSSANCE / Don’t Look, Don’t Touch. This was a great solo show for this artist, which combined original canvas paintings, ink and mixed media illustrations, wooden sculpture and a cardboard coffin installation. The colors were bright, the imagery unique and the execution was on point. We need more RAOS in our gallery.
March 14th, 2015. Gremlin, Hands, and the rest of the Wise Owls crew kicked of their “Spaceship” tour in our gallery saturday night. June 8th, 2013. We take a look back at the second annual “Back To Basics” hip hop music festival held at The Observatory here in Santa Ana, CA. Out Da House and The Observatory collaborate on putting together this show that has grown into a concert that is not to be missed. GCS had a vendor booth there and let’s just say that it was busy all day. We only had a few minutes to sneak away and catch 2Mex and Sage Francis for a few tracks. Stay tuned for more from the Back To Basics music festival.
Aug. 3rd, 2013. Today we look back at the art show we had the pleasure of hosting back in August of 2013. Affectionately called “Summer Slam”, this show featured the work of Dino Perez, Deity, Kasey Mahoney, Joe Ded, RASK, AR and Hannah Webb.
March 7th, 2015. GCS has always strived to bring out the best artists and the best art to Santa Ana. This month, we were proud to host CODAK for a solo art exhibit that included a tee shirt release and mural installation. The dtsa was jumping with the beat swapmeet going on a few steps away from our shop and other various art show and music events scattered throughout the area. If you didn’t know, now you know…. CODAK don’t play. Look out for a lot more from this artist.

Included in the night’s festivities was AR, Free Humanity, Jay Open, Liz Killz, Moeeglee, Pernille Damgaard, Germizm, Sick Dot One and Nick Macaulay. April 5th, 2014. This art walk marked GCS Clothing Store’s 5th year in the city of Santa Ana. It was hard to believe that it was april of 2009 when GCS opened it’s doors in DTSA. To help us celebrate the date, we had the pleasure of hosting a solo art show by Jonathan Martinez entitled “Rise of the Endangered”. Original acrylic on canvas and ink on paper pieces filled the gallery. Two lucky recipients won the raffle and walked away with an original J. Martinez. And as Always, GCS is honored and happy to have had 5 years of bringing quality art, artists and events to the people of central orange county.
April 16th, 2014. A very rare wednesday art show in our gallery brought us Liz Covarrubias a.k.a. Liz Killz’s “The Missing Cards” photographic art show. The theme of the show was to update the traditional ‘loteria’ game pieces with symbols and icons that are a little more relatable to today’s audiences. Look out for more from this OC based photographer.
May 4, 2014. The 2nd annual Psycho De Mayo went down at The Yost Theater in DownTown Santa Ana. When you put Psycho Realm, DTSA and the cinco de mayo weekend together, the show was bound to sell out and the venue was sure to get packed. The other headliners backing up Sick Jacken, Cynic, and Dj FM were Tijuana No!, Sean Price and DJ Muggs. Evidence and Murs also jumped on stage to treat the crowd to something a little special. Big ups Blacklisted Music Group for another great show.
