Army Of The Pharaohs OCT 22, 2014

Army_of_the_pharaohs_santaana_the_observatory_3Another big show that we were excited to see was Army Of The Pharaohs at The Observatory. AOTP was out promoting their new album “Heavy Lies The Crown”, but you know they couldn’t come through without rocking a few classic tracks. The Jedi Mind Trick family was in full force, and the crowd loved it. Vinnie Paz, Apathy, Celph Titled, Esoteric, Outerspace (Planetary and Crypt the War Child), Reef the Lost Cause and a very special guest Ill Bill turned in a great performance. YAY AREA FEST II… Too Short AUG 29, 2014

Last but not least, we have a photo recap of Too Short’s set at the Yay Area Fest II. The yay area was definitely well represented at this show.  Anyone who has grown up in cali and listened to hip hop music from the early 80’s until now should be familiar with his music. A true hip hop legend.Too_short_the_observatory_hihop_santaana_gcs_21

flashback… KRS-ONE at The Observatory 1/15

KRS_theobservatory_santaana“When you want that raw hip hop, you know where to come to..” The first show that the GCS family went to in 2015 was to go see the blast master himself, KRS-ONE with DJ Predator Prime on the cuts. You have to love those $5 wednesday shows at The Observatory. The show was beyond packed, every joint a classic and a couple b-boys and b-girls jumped on stage to do their thing.KRS_ONE_gcs_theobservatory_santaana_dtsa_hiphop_7

Sage Francis at The Observatory JAN 27th, 2015

sageflyerOne of our personal favorites, Rhode Island’s own Sage Francis blessed The Observatory stage for a very cool $5 tuesday night show. Sage has been on the road for a good minute to promote his new album “Copper Gone“. The room was packed with avid fans that were receptive to the new material as well as eager to hear the classics. As always, he did not disappoint. The quiet freight train that is Sage hit the crowd with a constant barrage of deep thought and great music. And did we mention leg, a whole lot of leg. We can’t wait until the next time we can see this giant perform. Continue reading to see the rest of the photos from the night. IMG_1714

KRS ONE at The Observatory DEC 3rd… $5 show

You have to give it up to The Observatory for throwing these $5 shows with top quality acts. Despite the fact that it was a tuesday night, the main room was at near capacity for KRS ONE . Backed up by his son on the decks, KRS gave the crowd a great show as usual. Classic tracks, fresh freestyles and a few newer pieces had the paying customers flipin out. Big ups to Out Da House productions for promoting a great show, big ups to Ian and everyone from The Observatory for a another fun night and big ups to KRS for being the legend that hip hop needs right now.

GZA at The Observatory, Santa Ana…

gcs_GZA_wutang_sa_gcssantaana_hiphop_gcshiphop_wu_legend_giants_casting_shadows_theglobe_gcsclothing_hectorruiz_photosbyhectorruiz_photosbygcs_thewutangclanGZA blessed the stage at The Observatory Santa Ana on Monday, Nov 4th, 2013 for a rare OC appearance. Slated as a fan appreciation show, the tickets to this joint were only $5, an incredible steal for a show of this callibur. And dispite the inexpensive entrance, GZA still rocked the crowd with all the great music that makes Wu Tang fans as die hard as they come.

Big thanks to Droops from Out Da House Productions for promoting another great show. Thanks to The Observatory staff for letting GCS roll through with our camera to document the great show.      Enjoy!gza_wutang_sa_gcssantaana_hiphop_gcshiphop_wu_legend_giants_casting_shadows_theglobe_gcsclothing_theobservatory_ochiphop_outdahouse_dj_fans_handsup
